Iowa authorities have confirmed four people were killed and at least 35 were injured in Greenfield when a fierce tornado blew through town.The tornado, tentatively rated an EF-3, ripped through Greenfield and left damage throughout the city on Tuesday afternoon. On Wednesday evening, the Iowa Department of Public Safety released an official fatality count of four deaths. The names and ages of those killed are not being released by officials at this time.According to DPS, the number of injured is "likely higher" than 35, but that number reflects only patients who were treated for injuries at designated alternate care sites. At least 14 patients were transported to other hospitals by various EMS services.MercyOne, which manages the Adair County Health System, also confirmed on Wednesday that the hospital based in Greenfield sustained significant damage and that staff and patients were evacuated after the storm.
