Since Luigi's Mansion 3 is coming next week, I'm opening up a spoiler thread for any spoilers and potential leaks that may show up in the meantime.

So, anything pop up yet?

The storm has now resided, the wolf now rests.

I don't think a spoiler thread for a Mario game is necessary.

Jason has come back to kill for Mommy.

Then they could just not read what happens. Not everything warrants a spoiler thread.

According to this post, Luigi's Mansion 3 has broken street date. Make sure to direct people here if they want to talk about spoilers.

Reposting from the general Mario thread, but this sure is one weird-ass hotel. The shopping mall and the gym and the concert hall are just about believable. The castle, the movie studio, and the f*cking desert less so.

Sure doesn't have many actual rooms, that's for sure.

Has anyone figured out yet if the 'suck ghosts up longer to get better treasure' thing from the first game still works? It doesn't really seem like it, especially since they really want you to use the A slam.

It's been fun.

Why would it?

Ghosts only drop stuff if you slam them, holding the suction longer just depletes more health before you have to slam them.

Well, because it was one of the more rewarding mechanics, I felt like... Managing to keep a boss ghost wrangled for as long as possible could get you some really great treasure. But with the utility and offensive power of the slam, I guess I can see why they would want to focus on that instead.

One thing I will say, I miss the sort of "reclaiming the house bit by bit" feel of the first game. Not that sections of the original mansion weren't fairly disconnected, because they were, but it was a different feel compared to the "here's a packaged themed romp through an entirely separate world" thing that 2 had and 3 is also doing.

That said, I'm really enjoying it so far. I have to wonder how the heck you're supposed to pick up on some of the mirror Darklight hints on handheld, though. I play exclusively on my TV and I still miss a lot.

It's been fun.

Just beat the game tonight. Helen Gravely and King Boo were actually pretty challenging. Mario was useless. Come on Nintendo, I know this is Luigi's time to shine, but you could at least let him get a hit in! Also, they kind of drew attention to the oddity of Luigi not being able to jump like in the main games, since Mario jumps right up to the roof with ease while you have to climb up ladders. Is the Poltergust just that heavy?

I missed the part where that's my problem.

I get the impression that Hellen would be exponentially easier in Co-op mode

Get a hit in...

Because it would totally make sense that he should.

No, let him be "useless"...jeez.

I mean, this is a guy who's fought all kinds of crazy bosses over the decades. You're telling me he can't even dodge one incredibly telegraphed attack from king boo?

And yeah, co-op would definitely make Helen a lot easier. Having to divide your attention between Luigi and Gooigi gets really stressful. I'd imagine just focusing on one wouldn't be very hard at all.

I missed the part where that's my problem.

No, in cutscenes Mario's typically not good at dodging telegraphed attacks.

Luigi's Mansion 3 Spoiler Thread (21) Goddamn, that reminds me of a LONG time ago in the Mario fan games galaxy, where there was a fangame called Mario's mansion.

So how does this game hold up overall? What i've seen appeals to me.

Power is just power! The desire for all power leads to conflict. And that conflict leads to the ultimate battle! Now is the time!

I just beat it a few minutes ago with a C rank, and it's good. It's a Mario spinoff, so lots of bright colours and cartoony action.

It's pretty cool how Luigi is building up his own supporting cast. Hellen and Polterkitty are endearing villains, and I would be verse to them returning in the future. Also Pserpci because I'm a sucker for Egyptian stuff.

The overall structure is more level-based than the original, which I gather is also how LM2 did things. It's unfortunate that there's no postgame, so you have to get all the gems and boos in a single run if you're going for 100%.

I could see Tomb Suites as being an Egyptian-themed room and Castle MacFrights being some sort of entertainment floor, but yeah the movie studio is just "Why is this here?" I also felt bad vaccuuming up Morty, because he wasn't hurting anybody, he just wanted to make a movie. To be fair, though, the entire building is an ad-hoc façade built by Hellen to trap Luigi and friends, and the ghosts turn it into a real hotel in the ending.

I only wish the floors themselves were longer. The museum stage is especially guilty of being too short.

Friday night I completed a playthrough of Luigi's Mansion 3 (for me it's Luigi's Mansion 2 since I never played Dark Moon). I reached the rank of B.

I was mostly pretty good about not using the internet for strategy and tips but there were a few times I had to look up information. For instance, I couldn't figure out how to remove the red megaphone from the cardboard box.

The play control is fine for the most part. The only problem I had is sometimes I instinctively pressed the right knob when I was sucking up ghosts and that would switch control to Gooigi and mess up the fight. Once I learned not to press the right knob, ghost batttles became much easier.

One of my biggest complaints in gaming is unskippable cutscenes. LM 3 allowing you to skip over the Game Over cutscene and skip over the unlocking doors cutscene made it all the more aggravating that you can't skip over cutscenes before boss battles. This really gets frustrating when you have to watch the same cutscene over and over when you restart a boss bottle like how I had to constantly rewatch the cutscene before the Helen Graveley battle.

Sometimes it felt LM 3 was throwing stuff in just to prolong the game, like the battles against the kitty that steals the elevator buttons or the prolonged search for the mice that steals an elevator button. I took me over 25 hours to beat LM 3, the game didn't need to be padded for further playing time.

Apparently the game allows you to capture Morty the film maker or leave him alone in the film room. My feeling is; the point of the game is to rescue your friends, not to bust ghosts. If you don't need to suck up Morty to save the others, just take the elevator button and leave Morty be. Morty is actually helpful in the boss battle, informing you to push back the monster's energy ball and informing you the importance of using Gooigi in the battle.

There's one part in the game where you splat paint at a wall to get a financial reward, this remind me of spraying paint in Splatoon. Launching balls at the Gym Boss reminded me of the Dodgeball portion of Mario Sports Mix. Blowing away sand in the Tomb floor reminded me of using a leaf blower-type item in the Mining Facility in Legend Of Zelda Skyward Sword.

With 15 floors in Luigi's Mansion 3, it's disappointing you only save 5 of Luigi's friends from paintings. The other floors could have been used to save other Mario Bros. characters like Daisy, Rosalina, Yoshi and Donkey Kong.

As much as I liked Luigi's Mansion 3, I don't want to see Luigi's Mansion 4. I want Nintendo to take our hero in green in a new, fresh direction.

No, Mr. Bunker, "this here" is justice

Saving a character every few floors is more natural to what is the game presents to you.

Not every boss is a major one, they're just "end of level" progression, so saving a character every floor would be more pointless than anything.
